– Richmond Hill Road, Sumner, Canterbury, New Zealand

Feb 22nd I woke up with an extremely odd feeling in my gut. Even moved things, my favourite wine glass was at the end of the table so I moved it to the centre of the table. My husband and I work outside. Gardening, lawns so forth. We were on our way to a job in Sumner and I REALLY didn’t want to go, tried every excuse not to. Lo and behold thats where we were when it hit. One of those homes where you drive UP a long drive with rock faces all around. Thank goodness our customer wasn’t at home, her home would have engulfed her. Funnily enough I froze. Then hearing my husband yell, my feet didn’t even touch the ground till I was with him and safe. I luckily missed the falling debris of the chimneys coming down. After helping bloodied, stressed, surrounding neighbours it took 5 and 3/4 hours to get home, usually a 20 minute drive. My fav wine glass among loads of other belongings didn’t make it. But we did.

I had a similar feeling about a friend coming over on June 13th. Really wanted to phone and cancell her visit. Didn’t. She wasn’t here 10 minutes and bang, here we go again.
