22 February 2011…I was on a school camp in Living Springs…we had just sat down with our lunch in a huge dining hall, and suddenly a deep rumble sends screams and shattering plates in a frenzied choir of chaos.
Classmates moved like headless chooks for some escape and teachers ushered everyone outside. Everything was left behind. I don’t recall what overcame me that day, but I wasn’t having any of it – I took my full plate of food and joined them. Seeing as few had eaten lunch, I portioned it out to others. The next hours turning into a long night were filled with phone calls to parents and the sharing of sleeping bags and silence in wake of the unknown.
