I was at university…I had just walked out of my first lecture for the day, and was in the UCSA building (in the ladies room actually) when the quake hit….the screams, the alarms…i will never forget. I remember we had a sharp jolt…and I kind of giggled. Then the power went out, and the shaking started. The tiles fell from the ceiling, which was quite scary as in the dark you dont know exactly what is happening. And trying to get outside was horrible as I couldnt find the exit of the corridor. Once I got outside, all I could hear was the alarms going. To this day I can not stand the sound of alarms, or emergency sirens. Not to mention the terror of the seperation. I still do not sleep well (do any of us?). Its really been a year… Because that day, and the days afterward replay in my mind as if it were only last week.
