Words & Music by Peter Low, Jan 2012
We are shipping containers,
but we don’t cross the seas.
We do stuff on the dry land
with impressive ease.
By our multiple uses
we serve, and we please.
At the foot of the cliffs we can form a quick wall
to protect all you people if more rock should fall.
When a family’s home is in line for repair,
we can store their possessions with guaranteed care.
Where a shop or café has been razed to the ground
we can raise instant floor-space, so trade can rebound.
If a whole block of stores is condemned and destroyed,
We can pop up a precinct to fill in the void.
We can even pile high eight or nine units tall
hard against the cathedral to buttress its wall.
And don’t tell us we’re drab, we can sometimes get smart.
We excel at displaying colourful wonderful art.
