– Elgin Street, Sydenham, Canterbury, New Zealand

I was working at the time of the earthquake at a contact centre. I was speaking to someone when all I a sudden it started. I got under my desk in a hurry, like many of my collegues. I looked out the window onto Colombo Street below. I saw crushed cars and injured people. I had been walking there just 10-20 minutes prior. I then spent the next five hours in a car just trying to get home from Sydenham.
